It’s still exactly as users know it: same trusted design, same features, and the same impact. It’s designed to create a barrier against leakage in a discreet way, helping your patients feel secure and in control. Compressed to a compact size and wrapped in a clear water-soluble film, it also offers ease of insertion. Once in place, it can be worn for up to 12 hours.
More options, more freedom
While the Peristeen® Anal Plug as a stand-alone product helps to protect against faecal incontinence, it can also be used to supplement our transanal irrigation systems like Peristeen® Light and Peristeen® Plus. Your patients may use the Peristeen® Anal Plug between irrigations - on the go, during travel, or in situations where full irrigation may not be feasible - offering a sense of security. This helps provide additional flexibility and a feeling of control.

What is the Peristeen Anal Plug?
It’s a simple and discreet product designed to create a barrier against faecal incontinence. It is inserted into the rectum where it works as a barrier to help reduce the risk of soiling accidents. The anal plug can be worn for up to 12 hours.

Who is the Anal Plug suitable for?
The Peristeen® Anal Plug is suitable for patients with faecal incontinence, particularly those who need protection during daily activities or in specific situations such as work, travel, or social engagements. This includes patients with neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Spinal Cord Injury, and Spina Bifida, as well as elderly patients, or those experiencing faecal incontinence due to childbirth complications or following surgery. The product is indicated for both male and female adults, and for children from 3 years of age.
Which patients shouldn’t use it?
Peristeen Anal Plug must not beused if you suffer from haemorrhoids (3rd and 4th degree) anal Stenosis.
Can it be used alongside transanal irrigation?
Yes. The Anal Plug complements transanal irrigation systems like Peristeen® Plus and Peristeen® Light. It can be used as a help between irrigations, during travel, or in situations where full irrigation may not be feasible - offering patients added flexibility and control.
Has the product changed since it was last available?
No. The product design, features, and materials remain unchanged.
